Race, Research and Representation

This work is part of my graduate thesis for the department of Visual and Critical Studies at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I explored the relationships between researcher and subject in contemporary ethnographic practices and related them to the artist and model dynamic. I produced a reflexive practice wherein the subject/model has agency and say in the way they chose to be represented.

Exhibited as part of the exhibition and symposium, Helps it to Feel, Compels it to Make at Weinberg Newton Gallery in Chicago, IL. (2018)
